Welcome to Dancewell kids

A nonprofit organization that collaborates with high school dancers to bring therapeutic dance experiences to pediatric hospital patients through structured, age-appropriate choreography programs.

Our vision is to create a sustainable model where youth leadership meets compassionate care, improving the quality of life for hospitalized children while developing the next generation of socially conscious artists. Presently a regional nonprofit, dancewellkids.com will be expanding nationally in 2026. Join us in making a positive impact through dance and compassion.

 Our Modules:
Calm, Comfort & Chill Movement

This module focuses on helping children relax, reset, and cool down through simple, gentle movement. The aim is to support children who may feel tired or low in energy, without making them feel different or limited. Sessions maintain a calm, fun, and welcoming atmosphere — just like a regular dance class, but at a softer pace.

Learning Objectives

Children will learn to use movement as a tool to relax and self-regulate. Volunteers will support children in moving comfortably, helping them feel safe, included, and empowered.
The experience encourages calm engagement while still preserving the joy of dance.

Why This Matters

Calm and gentle movement offers children a meaningful break from medical adversity. A slower pace creates space to breathe, relax, and reconnect with their bodies. These moments can help children feel more in control, more comfortable, and more like themselves.

It is still dance — just a gentler version.

We structure our unique dance curriculum according to our young patients’ mobility:

For those patients who are immobile, we focus on seated movements: hand dancing, facial expressions, and upper body flow, as well as storytelling through props

  • For ambulatory patients in playrooms or pediatric common areas, we plan themed sessions representing animals, superheroes, and favorite media, as well as collaborative programs in which the children contribute movements

  • For larger groups, typically in hospital pediatric playrooms, we present short, lively performances and lead interactive workshops where we teach the children basic routines to perform with us. We always encourage parent/caregiver participation.
